Office for Mac that comes with a Microsoft 365 subscription is updated on a regular basis to provide new features, security updates, and non-security updates. The following information is primarily intended for IT professionals who are deploying Office for Mac to the users in their organizations.
Note
- Starting with Version 16.21, Microsoft Teams will be installed by default for new installations if you're using the Office suite install package. For more information, see Microsoft Teams installations on a Mac.
- For security reason, Microsoft has deprecated the use of SHA-1. Learn more
- Starting with the 16.17 release in September 2018, this information also applies to Office 2019 for Mac, which is a version of Office for Mac that's available as a one-time purchase from a retail store or through a volume licensing agreement.
- The update history information for version 16.16 and earlier also applies to Office 2016 for Mac, which is also a version of Office for Mac that's available as a one-time purchase. Older versions up to and including 16.16 can be activated with an Office 2016 for Mac volume license. You can't activate version 16.17 or later with an Office 2016 for Mac volume license. Most current packages for Office for Mac
Microsoft Office Professional Plus on Mac I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and was trying to get Microsoft Office set up. I downloaded the office bundle from the app store and started the app to link my account.

- To resolve this issue in Outlook 2016 for Mac, install the February 2017 Outlook update (version 15.31.0) from the following Office website: Release notes for Office 2016 for Mac. To work around this issue, delete any cached passwords for your account, and also delete any modern authentication tokens from the keychain.
The following table lists the most current packages for the Office suite and for the individual applications. The Office suite includes all the individual applications, such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. All packages are 64-bit only. The build date is listed in parentheses, in a YYMMDD format, after the version number. The install package is used if you don't have the application already installed, while the update package is used to update an existing installation.

Symptoms
In Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac, you are repeatedly prompted for authentication while you're connected to your Office 365 account.

Cause
This issue occurs because of the presence of duplicate tokens in the keychain.
Resolution
To resolve this issue in Outlook 2016 for Mac, install the February 2017 Outlook update (version 15.31.0) from the following Office website:
Workaround
To work around this issue, delete any cached passwords for your account, and also delete any modern authentication tokens from the keychain. To do this, follow these steps.
Note
These steps affect all Office applications that use modern authentication.
Microsoft Office For Mac Cheap
Quit Outlook and all other Office applications.
Start Keychain Access by using one of the following methods:
- Select the Finder application, click Utilities on the Go menu, and then double-click Keychain Access.
- In Spotlight Search, type Keychain Access, and then double-click Keychain Access in the search results.
In the search field in Keychain Access, enter Exchange.
In the search results, select each item to view the Account that's listed at the top, and then press Delete. Repeat this step to delete all items for your Exchange account.
In the search field, enter adal.
Select all items whose type is MicrosoftOffice15_2_Data:ADAL:, and then press Delete.
In the search field, enter office.
Select the items that are named Microsoft Office Identities Cache 2 and Microsoft Office Identities Settings 2, and then press Delete.
Quit Keychain Access.
Note
When you start Outlook, you are prompted to authenticate.
